California ranks #1 in Bookkeepers and Long Beach has the 2nd most Accountants

According to the most recent study by the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, there are more Bookkeeping and Accounting jobs in California than in any other state.

According to the most recent study by the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, there are more Bookkeeping and Accounting jobs in California than in any other state. In a May 2017 study, the BLS study showed that California had 186,410 bookkeepers and accountants employed, with Texas being in second place with 116,000 jobs in the Bookkeeping and Accounting industry.
The Long Beach and Los Angeles areas come in 2nd place for nationwide metropolis areas for Accounting and Auditors employed.
What does this mean for job seekers in California? It means that there is a lot of demand for bookkeeping, auditing and accounting and if that demand stays high, there can still be room to find employment or start a practice there. It also could mean that many areas are already saturated, so before you decide to settle in somewhere, do some researches in Google to find out how many companies there are – and decide if there is room for your services.
What about businesses who are looking for bookkeeping services in Long Beach and Southern California? It means there are a lot of firms to choose from, and it’s not always best to go with the first bookkeeper you find on Yelp.com. It always helps to do a little homework online before you make a decision. Know what your needs are and be able to communicate those needs to a reputable bookkeeper or accountant.
Leverage online reviews to create a short list of reputable firms. If they have even a few reviews in Google that are solid, prioritize those and give them a call.
Remember, there are many companies that claim to do just about everything accounting related. Some specialties are Tax Preparation, Estate and Trust, Forensic Accounting, Non-profit and Government Industries, and Business Bookkeeping.

As a small business owner, it is best to find a company that specializes in small business bookkeeping, and can manage records at a reasonable rate.
