Nov 11, 2023
Summary
"My Values Journal" has announced updates to its mindfulness journal for children aged 5 and up. The journal aims to encourage children to be creative and confident while developing positive qualities such as honesty and compassion. The updated journal provides guided activities and includes inspiring stories, illustrations, and quotes. It is designed to help children grow into positive and compassionate members of society.
A study by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology found that children who write by hand show more brain activity compared to those who type on a keyboard. With this in mind, "My Values Journal" aims to provide a similar experience through the act of writing.
The journal is filled with activities, stories, and illustrations intended to teach children the value of important qualities. It features diverse cartoon characters to reflect the diversity of its users. Children are encouraged to work through the journal at their own pace and can complete activities alone or with others.
Using the journal is said to help improve children's creativity, imagination, confidence, and attention, as well as strengthen relationships with others. Parents have reported positive shifts in their children's mindset after using the journal, including increased relaxation and self-assurance.
"My Values Journal" is available for customers worldwide. Interested parties can find more information on their website.

A 2020 study by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology found that children who write by hand show significantly more brain activity than children who type on a keyboard. Audrey van der Meer, the professor who led the study, believes this is because “[writing] gives the brain more hooks to hang memories on.” With its updated mindfulness journal, 'My Values Journal' aims to provide children with a similar experience.
The 'My Values Journal' is a short but bountiful journal filled with activities, stories, illustrations, and quotes designed to teach kids the value of honesty, hard work, compassion, and several other important qualities. The journal is narrated by a group of friendly cartoon characters meant to reflect the diversity of the children using the book.
Children are encouraged to go through the 'My Values Journal' at their own pace and in whatever order they prefer. They can also complete the activities on their own or with parents, siblings, other relatives, and friends.
Children who use the 'My Values Journal' should see an improvement in their creativity, imagination, confidence, and attention, amongst many other traits. Relationships with classmates, neighbours, friends, siblings, and relatives also tend to get stronger because qualities like empathy and compassion are emphasized throughout the journal.
“The My Values Journal is truly exceptional,” said a satisfied parent. “My son, who often struggles with self-doubt and places immense pressure on himself, has become noticeably more relaxed and self-assured. Since going through the journal, he has started sharing his achievements at school with me, indicating a positive shift in his mindset.”
