The innovative design of this new device has completely changed how stem cell procedures for orthopedic conditions are performed. Marrow Cellutions makes the stem cell procedure less invasive; it reduces the time necessary for patient’s to be in the office, requires no centrifugation, and makes the procedure virtually painless. The design of this patent pending, FDA cleared device has improved the way stem cell procedures are performed. Before the development of Marrow Cellutions harvesting regenerative cells from the pelvic bone was known to be extremely painful. This new device is much smaller and thinner than competitors’ devices which makes the procedure virtually painless. Unlike other stem cell procedures, which requires patients to be under general anesthesia, this procedure requires only a local anesthetic in a small area of the pelvic bone. In addition, this effective collection device often only requires one stick, so patients do not have to endure multiple, painful sticks with larger needles as seen in other stem cell procedures using “older devices” to extract cells.

The Marrow Cellutions device is a thin needle with a closed tip that has multiple openings around the length of the needle. This allows for more cells to be extracted with minimal peripheral blood mixed in. Competitors performing stem cell procedures using “older” devices to extract cells require centrifuging the sample to separate the stem cells from other cells before injecting them into a joint, but this device eliminates the need for this extra step. It gives Dr. Kouri at Atlas Medical Center the ability to directly inject the regenerative cells directly into the joint immediately after harvesting. Eliminating the use of the centrifuge reduces the length of the procedure from about 2-3 hours to less than 30 minutes, keeps patients safe from potential contamination, and allows for more viable cells to be injected into the joint. It also makes the procedure a true “outpatient” procedure with no downtime required for the patient.

Finally, because of the design of the device and the fact that centrifugation of the sample is not necessary; data collected by Ranfac has shown that Marrow Cellutions yields more or equal number of regenerative cells compared to more invasive devices.
