FREE: Independent Film Raises Awareness About Human Trafficking
Nov 4, 2026
Kevin Starks' powerful film explores deception, betrayal, and survival while encouraging communities to recognize the warning signs of trafficking.
Mount Vernon, New York Nov 3, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - Independent Film FREE Raises Awareness About Human Trafficking and the Dangers Facing Young Women
Independent filmmaker Kevin Starks of Chase Films Inc. presents FREE, a dramatic short film created to bring attention to the dangers of human trafficking and the ways young women can become targets through deception, manipulation, and false opportunities.
Written by Kevin Starks and Candice Childress, and produced and directed by Kevin Starks, FREE follows three college friends whose lives take a dangerous turn after an opportunity that seems too good to be true leads them into the world of human trafficking. What begins with trust and the promise of opportunity becomes a story of betrayal, survival, and the fight to escape.
The film was created to do more than entertain. Stark hopes FREE will encourage conversations, raise awareness, and remind audiences to remain alert to the warning signs of trafficking. His goal is to educate without creating fear, while shining a light on an issue that affects communities everywhere.
"Sometimes danger doesn't look like danger at first. It can come disguised as an opportunity," is the central message behind the film.
FREE stars Megan Gerald, Tea Pajkic, Brett J. Deptrillo, and Jessyca J. The film is a Chase Films Inc. production in association with Urban Film Group.
Starks is continuing to build FREE into an awareness movement, using the film and its message to encourage people to protect and support women in their communities.
