Frisco Obstructive Sleep Apnea Diagnosis & Treatment for Pseudo ADHD Launched
Jan 7, 2023
Millennium Smiles (972-987-4899), based in Frisco, Texas with a second location in Lebanon, has updated its treatments for children and adults suffering from obstructive sleep apnea as a result of TMJ.
Frisco,United States - January 7, 2023 /PressCable/ —
The clinic now offers children and adults diagnoses and treatments for obstructive sleep apnea, arising out of TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorder. The associated symptoms that manifest in everyday life – irritability, hyperactivity, difficulty paying attention – are often confused for ADHD, a misdiagnosis often referred to as ‘pseudo ADHD.’ Chronically sleep-deprived individuals – especially children and teens – are often diagnosed with ADHD when the real problem stems from a sleep disorder.

Millennium Smiles, a 5-star, full-service dental and implant clinic based in Frisco, now provides oral appliance therapy for all patients suffering from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), a condition where the muscles and tissues in the back of a person’s throat relax and collapse their airway during sleep – when airflow is completely blocked, the individual temporarily stops breathing before waking up.
Traditionally, OSA has been treated by CPAP (continuous air pressure) devices, effective but notoriously uncomfortable solutions that treat sleep apnea’s symptoms. The sleep apnea oral appliances market – a relatively new one – is expected to grow at over 16% annually through the end of the decade, as primary healthcare providers increasingly recognize the importance of treating the underlying issue of temporomandibular joint health in their patients. To receive treatment, patients will need an initial diagnosis, which typically requires observation in a sleep lab.
There are many FDA-approved models available at Millennium Smiles, each with a unique design suited to solve a particular issue. These devices fit over the patient’s teeth like an orthodontic retainer to support their jaw and keep the airway open for normal breathing. Millennium Smiles will take a mold of the patient’s teeth to have the appliance custom fitted for a more comfortable patient experience and improved long-term results.
The clinic, led by Dr. Dunia Korous, also offers a complete range of dental and orthodontic services, including periodontal treatment, Invisalign braces, teeth whitening, and dental implants. Dr. Korous has a Fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantology and is a member of both the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the American Academy of General Dentistry.
One patient a couple of weeks ago commented: “Can’t begin to say how great this dentist is. Customer service is top-notch. They even bought me lunch. Not to mention the atmosphere/aesthetic was amazing.”
