Geeky News Explores the Unveiling of Spectacular Rooftop Garden at Battersea Power Station
Sep 4, 2023
This rooftop oasis is only available to residents of the three newly constructed apartment buildings that have gone up next to the Grade II* former generator as part of the staggering £9 billion regeneration project
Surrey, United Kingdom Sep 4, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - Geeky News, a leading tech and lifestyle journal, is excited to present its latest article: "Spectacular Rooftop Garden Unveiled in the Heart of Battersea Power Station." This feature delves into the extraordinary rooftop oasis nestled within one of London's most iconic landmarks, Battersea Power Station.
The article notes that, whilst the garden is a verdant masterpiece, it is exclusively accessible to the residents of the three newly constructed apartment buildings adjacent to the historic generator. The installation underscores the commitment of the Battersea Power Station Development Company to fostering a vibrant sense of community within the neighbourhood.
Perched atop the 16th floor of the Battersea Roof Gardens, this 29,000-square-foot sanctuary offers an unrivalled 360-degree panorama of the City of London. The view is framed by the towering chimneys of Battersea Power Station. With 23,000 plants and 55 trees, the garden transforms into a vibrant tapestry of colour and life.
The rooftop garden provides a range of inviting features. These include comfortable seating areas, soft ambient lighting, wooden loungers, and even a dedicated space for yoga and small events. A spacious "community dining table" encourages neighbours to come together and socialise, embodying the development's commitment to community-building.
Meriam Makiya, Head of Residential at Battersea Power Station Development Company, notes, "Battersea Power Station is a neighbourhood centred around creating a sense of community and this beautiful roof garden is the perfect space for residents to share and enjoy together."
Grant Brooker, Head of Studio at Foster + Partners, adds, "The rooftop gardens are for all of the building's residents. The aim was to create a thriving parkland walkway that provides spectacular views across the river and to the city. The gardens are a social space to walk, run, take a yoga class--or just relax and breathe--in a unique setting that is high above the city and set against the power station's iconic chimneys."
James Corner, Principal of James Corner Field Operations, further explains, "This beautiful rooftop garden provides a scenographic sequence of garden experiences, a magical lookout, and an amazing set of diverse experiences."
Benjamin Walker, director at LDA Design, the Executive Landscape Architects, emphasises the garden's resilience, saying, "The gardens require minimal maintenance and, a year since planting, are now thriving."
Since its opening in October 2022, Battersea Power Station has emerged as London's premier leisure, shopping, and luxury living destination. The development's ambitious plan includes approximately 3,400 apartments catering to an estimated 28,000 residents, combining sophistication, heritage, and potential financial gains.
