Grab 'em by the Microphone! Independent Feature Film To the New Girl Releases on VOD

To the New Girl, a stage to screen independent feature film highlights women in front of and behind the camera.

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - Aug. 11, 2020 - PRLog -- New Girl Pictures announces the release of  To the New Girl available on Video on Demand August 11, 2020. A bold anthology feature film made by an all-female creative team & cast. Based on the popular play of the same name the 80-minute movie follows 10 women scorned as they directly address their exes' new wives & lovers at an open mic night in Los Angeles. Created by a dynamic group of emerging filmmakers at a time when audiences are demanding films made both by and for women, the project taps into a social and political climate that's left women poised to take back their voices and be heard.

"During this time when people are unfortunately unable to go and see live theatre we're really pleased to be able to release To the New Girl, which hopefully brings a little bit of that theatre experience to people's home screens."  - Laura Hunter Drago

To the New Girl is a truly independent film, funded by a Kickstarter campaign by supporters of women in entertainment. The micro budget project was made with an all-women cast and creative team and based on the critically acclaimed play of the same name written by Samanta Macher.

"Live theatre is so important. At its best, you're in the moment with these characters. Though we can't exactly replace the experience of being with our audience in person, the film is true to the medium. It's intimate, simple, and heartfelt. We hope that those watching at home get a similar feeling as those who saw it on stage through the years."  - Samantha Macher

"What I love about this project is that Samantha's writing really connects with audiences on a universal level and our actresses bring the words to life with these phenomenal performances. I'm so excited that we're able to share that with audiences and spark some interesting conversations about how we all process heartbreak and relationships." - Laura Hunter Drago

Produced by Laura Hunter Drago, the cast includes performances from Charlotte Evelyn Williams, Lavetta Cannon, Mara Klein, Kelly L. Goodman, Laura Emily Castle, Samantha Carro, Leslie Simms, Skyler Vallo, Alexandra Boylan, and Dawn Noel.
