Litespeed Construction, a roofing company in Knoxville TN, has recently released a guide about how to purchase roofing materials during the pandemic. It is a strong possibility that roofing materials along with other construction materials will be in short supply in the upcoming months leading to the election. Hopefully, this pandemic and shortage on roofing materials will not last past November 2020.

for current updates on the most effective ways to purchase roofing materials during the 2020 roofing material shortage.

Roofing companies in Knoxville TN should be aware of the issues that this will cause, so consult your general contractor or roofing company you might be hiring to get the latest on material procurement. This guide is a quick synopsis of the manufacture’s pricing increases and the possible shortages for commercial and residential construction material.

Factory shut downs for all material suppliers, including painted metal panels, vinyl windows, lumber, and especially roofing materials have caused a possible shortage for suppliers and distributors leading to an extremely likely situations where roofing materials will be in short supply. Superior Distribution in Knoxville TN has said that, their stock and inventory is “good” through September, but roofing contractors and home owners should be, “flexible about colors and shingle manufactures” during the material shortages of 2020. No one, along with Superior Distribution can guarantee inventory into October 2020. Litespeed Construction’s best recommendation is to make your choices as quickly and effectively as possible and stay in touch with your contractors as best as possible during this material crisis.

Readers should note, that the shortages of roofing materials will lead to an increase in roofing prices nationwide, not just in Knoxville TN.

An 8-15 percent increase for roofing products is currently being implemented by all shingle manufactures, and larger roofing and material orders will be the first to feel the price increases along with the shortages. These larger construction projects may need to be considered at a later date as opposed to 3rd quarter 2020. Additionally, these prices are expected to increase until factories can resume working at full capacity. GAF, the country’s largest shingle manufacture has said that “primary focus will be on the manufacture of core shingle colors”.

In a recent statement, the owner of Litespeed Construction Kirby Smith had this to say, “Litespeed Construction wants people to be aware of a signification price increase for materials and possible material shortage in the coming weeks and months as Covid-19 impacts construction material due to plant shutdowns from all of the major roofing manufactures… Also expect a price increase on all fasteners, like nails and screws going forward as well.”

Litespeed Construction understands that due to the pandemic many people are unaware of the direction in which the economy will shift. As a result of their interest in the welfare of their clients, they have no choice but to consider exhausting all opportunity to inform the public and provide a game plan for possible material shortages in 2020.

Litespeed Construction promises to keep readers and clients updated on any changes that may occur as a result of the current volatility of the construction materials market.

As the fastest growing commercial and residential roofing services provider in Knoxville, Litespeed Construction is well trained in all types of roofing repairs and installments and ready for all challenges including this one, the material crisis of 2020.
