R. I. Willroth’s thoughtful novel explores faith, devotion, family, and the enduring legacy of one of Christianity’s most beloved disciples
Los Angeles, California Oct 3, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - Faith, devotion, and biblical history come together in Memoirs of the Beloved by R. I. Willroth, a fictionalized biography that brings the life and experiences of the Apostle John into vivid focus. Traditionally associated with the Gospel of John, the Epistles of John, and the Book of Revelation, John remains one of the most influential figures in Christian history.
Known as "the Beloved," John holds a distinctive place among the disciples of Jesus Christ. Through this novel, Willroth explores John's relationship with Jesus and the experiences that shaped his faith and commitment during the formative years of the early Christian church. Drawing upon biblical accounts and historical context, the story offers readers a personal and engaging perspective on events that have shaped Christian faith for centuries.
At the heart of Memoirs of the Beloved are themes of faith, discipleship, sacrifice, family, and devotion to God's calling. The novel also explores the familial connection traditionally associated with Jesus and John through their mothers, Mary and Salome, giving the story an added layer of personal and emotional depth.
Author R. I. Willroth, also known as Roger Willroth, brings decades of theological education and ministry experience to the story. A graduate of the University of Northwestern in Roseville, Minnesota, and Bethel University Seminary in Shoreview, Minnesota, he holds a bachelor's degree and a Master of Divinity. Residing in Ames, Iowa, Roger has shared more than 55 years of marriage with his wife, Cathy, and continues to enjoy reading, writing, traveling, golf, and spending time with family and friends.
Memoirs of the Beloved offers both longtime Christians and readers interested in biblical history an opportunity to view the life of the Apostle John through the lens of historical imagination and spiritual reflection. With its focus on John's personal journey, relationships, and unwavering faith, the novel provides a thoughtful portrayal of a disciple whose influence continues to resonate throughout Christian tradition.
