She interacts and treats patients daily in her role at Memorial Hermann Hospital- Texas Medical Center.
She specializes in the realm of preventive medicine and cardiovascular imaging, which includes echocardiography, vascular imaging, nuclear imaging, and cardiac PET scans.

Since 2010, she has pursued academic medicine and is currently an associate professor in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the John P. and Kathrine G. McGovern Medical School at UTHealth.
In June of 2012, she joined the Weatherhead PET Imaging Center as a co-investigator to the CENTURY Health Study, which is aimed at the prevention or reversal of coronary heart disease by intense, combined pharmacologic and lifestyle treatment. She serves as the co-program director of the cardiovascular disease fellowship and is actively involved in the training of future cardiologists. Dr. Patel has been the recipient of the yearly Dean's Teaching Excellence Award five times in the last 7 years.
As a first-generation American raised in Houston, Dr. Patel comes from a very tight-knit and traditional Indian family. She earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) at Galveston. She then went on to complete her residency in internal medicine and her fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the John P. and Kathrine G. McGovern Medical School at UTHealth.
Licensed to practice medicine in Texas, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Furthermore, she is board-certified in adult comprehensive echocardiography by the National Board of Echocardiography, and in nuclear cardiology by the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology.
Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).
Truly dedicated to her patients and helping others, Dr. Patel has traveled to Guatemala for medical mission trips to provide modern medicine to developing communities. She aspires to provide free basic health care to the underdeveloped global community.
A serious doctor by day and a fun-loving social butterfly by night, she lives her life to the fullest. She became nationally known after being cast in the Bravo reality television series Married to Medicine: Houston, a spin-off of Married to Medicine. In what little free time she has, this beautiful spirit enjoys shopping, traveling, and spending time with her loved ones.
