Relevance Behavioral Health’s new Relevance Teen IOP after-school program offers teens and their families a holistic approach to mental health and substance abuse addiction care. The team of licensed and experienced therapists at the center are confident that the new program, which integrates individual therapy, group counseling, family support, and experiential therapies, will offer teens in need a well-rounded and effective treatment plan.

Relevance is pleased to be bringing more specialist services to teens in New Jersey and their families as the prevalence of mental health conditions and substance abuse disorders continues to rise. As the latest figures from the CDC reveal, more than 4 in 10 teenagers now feel persistently sad or hopeless and nearly one-third, 29%, experience poor mental health. Similarly, a recent report from US News shed light on the fact that 1 in 6 US teens now has some kind of substance use disorder.

As such, Relevance Teen will employ a multidisciplinary approach that uses theory-informed therapies like CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) alongside wellness and lifestyle therapies like mindfulness meditation. Across various treatment modalities, their team will seek to address the root cause of each teen’s mental health and/or addiction issues and help them build resilience, develop coping skills, and make a real recovery.

A spokesperson for the therapy center said, “At Relevance, we provide a safe and nurturing environment where teens can embark on a journey of healing and growth. Our evidence-based therapies, experienced counselors, and comprehensive support system empower teens to overcome mental health struggles and substance use disorders. With a focus on holistic well-being and personalized care, we are committed to guiding adolescents towards a brighter and more fulfilling future.”

The center’s Relevance Teen IOP program also emphasizes inclusivity, diversity, and cultural sensitivity, ensuring that every teenager feels seen and heard. All adolescents will find a welcoming and warm space at Relevance, and the center promotes age-appropriate peer support and collaboration as essential components of the healing process.
