Promoting International Academic Exchange with Online Conferences – Bring Domestic Young Scholars to the International Stage
Dec 19, 2021
The 3rd International Conference on Computing and Data Science (CONF-CDS), hosted by Eliwise Academy, has been providing opportunities for Chinese scholars to go abroad and discuss with international peers.

Communication is rather important in research. During the pandemic, restriction on transportation limits the opportunity of international academic communication on site. With the help of new media platforms, video communication, and other means, academic conferences have gradually moved from offline to online. Multi-domain online international conferences provide more opportunities for Chinese scholars, especially the younger ones, to go abroad and discuss with domestic and foreign peers.
The International Conference on Computing and Data Science (CONF-CDS), hosted by Eliwise Academy, is one of the most successful online conferences. It covers artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data, algorithm, and other areas. By August 2021, CONF-CDS has been held three times.
CONF-CDS 3rd was planned to be held at Stanford University. However, influenced by the pandemic, it turned into an online conference on YouTube. Seven speakers were invited to the conference. Some are researchers of frontier technologies, including Prof. Naira Hovakimyan of Mechanical Science and Engineering, UIUC, Prof. Alex Siow from School of Computing, National University of Singapore, Prof. Gerhard Klimeck, founder of nanoHUB.org, and Prof. Kourosh Khoshelham of Spatial Information from the University of Melbourne. Others are domestic young scholars who have made achievements in computing and relevant fields. Participants have had deep discussions and communication about data science, knowledge transfer, HD maps, autonomous driving, etc.
According to Prof. Aydogan Ozcan from UCLA, the General Chair, CONF-CDS is a great platform for communication, especially in 2021. Restricted by the pandemic situation, many academic conferences cannot gather participants worldwide. The online conference is a great way to break the geographical barrier and build a platform where scholars can focus on academic exchange. Eliwise Academy is a mature institution, experienced in holding conferences. Their academic conferences are professional and have a higher level of standard online or offline.
CONF-CDS maintains a strict review and acceptance mechanism. It works with the top publishers to ensure publication quality. CONF-CDS 3rd has accepted 31 papers, with an acceptance rate of 39.2%. The papers will be published by Springer and indexed by IEEE, EI, CPCI, and other databases.
In 2013, Eliwise Academy was established in Oxford, UK. It has years of experience in holding international academic conferences and journals. Presently, it has 7 international academic conferences in famous schools and 8 international academic journals. The conferences cover areas of artificial intelligence, big data, algorithm, material, environmental engineering, chemistry, economy, management, media, psychology, education, biology, medicine, etc. Eliwise Academy is cooperating with Springer, IOP, IEEE, AIP, Atlantis Press, and other top academic publishers, and all its conference proceedings are indexed by databases such as EI, CPCI, and Scopus.
