Restwords, a Boston-based web initiative, has launched an online filebin designed to offer free online temporary storage and temporary hosting for files. With hosting support for up to 48 hours for a range of file formats, a free API for programmatic use, and public links created for files immediately, it provides a free and accessible alternative to paid filebins on the net..
A new filebin, Restwords allows users to temporarily upload files at no cost. Furthermore, it supports the upload or direct copy/pasting of several filetypes, including XML, HTML, JSON, and TWIML files. When the file is uploaded, a URL is immediately generated and can be shared for anyone. Users can create files that are hosted on Restwords for up to 48-hours. After those 48 hours, those files are removed. Furthermore, users can store up to 200 files on the website per day. This means that a user could have 400 URLs for files generated within 48 hours.
Users can upload files directly like Restwords, as with many other filebins on the internet. However, this new release also includes a free-to-use API. As such, users can also copy and paste into the API, where they can alter the code as they wish. The API is a unique addition that allows users to get more programmatic use out of their filebin. They can upload and test multiple versions of files, generating URLs to see where changes may be necessary. This brings a new versatility to the average utility of filebins, aimed at programmers and developers looking to test out their scripts.
