Arlington Heights , United States - July 10, 2023 /PressCable/ —
Sage has announced critical security updates which will affect older versions of its Sage 50 software. Effective September 30, 2023, users running these Sage editions will not be able to reinstall or reactivate the software; the only solution is to upgrade to a newer version. As such, Accounting Business Solutions by JCS is offering test upgrades and setup assistance to small businesses across the US.

In its announcement, Sage explains that some older versions of the popular accounting software, Sage 50 2020.1 and earlier, use the now-retired Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.0 and 1.1. To comply with the latest recommendations from The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), Sage is switching to TLS 1.2 and 1.3, already used by its newer software such as Sage 50 2023.0.
Accounting Business Solutions by JCS appreciates that software transitions, upgrades, and data migration can be challenging for small businesses, while not upgrading to the new version will most certainly cause operational disruptions and could potentially expose their data to security breaches. As such, the firm advises all small business owners to switch to a newer version of the Sage software before the September deadline.
“To bypass the likely operations disruptions and their fallout, we strongly urge you to upgrade to the latest supported version of Sage 50 — Sage 50 2023.0,” said a spokesperson for Accounting Business Solutions by JCS. “This is the one way you’ll be assured that your accounting software functions securely and smoothly as Sept 30, 2023 segues into October 2023 and beyond.”
Offering full upgrade support, the firm urges all businesses running Sage 50 2020.1 and earlier versions to schedule a consultation and a test upgrade with its Sage consultants.
"Security must always be priority number one. It is essential that you safeguard your valuable data and maintain continuity of your business operations. And we’re here to help make it seamless, stress-free, and affordable," a spokesperson added.
For over 35 years, Accounting Business Solutions by JCS has been providing Sage training, support, and consulting for small businesses. The firm is an authorized reseller of Sage 50 and Sage 100, offering installation, setup, and integration.
