San Mateo Ibogaine Therapy For Substance Abuse Recovery & Natural Detox Update
Feb 20, 2023
San Mateo, CA - Casa Santa Isabel (800-706-4901) announces new updates to its ibogaine therapy for addiction. The alternative wellness treatment supports addiction recovery by reducing cravings and minimizing withdrawal symptoms, such as nausea.

The new treatment incorporates the latest research on ibogaine-assisted detox for drug and substance abuse. Scientists have discovered that ibogaine may balance brain chemistry over time, reducing its need for mind-altering substances such as opioids or alcohol. When used in combination with other healing modalities, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and group coaching, ibogaine therapy has a higher chance of achieving full recovery within a year.

Casa Santa Isabel's announcement coincides with a recent study published by American Addiction Centers, which found that around 40 percent to 60 percent of all substance users relapse after 12 months, regardless of the type of therapy received. Experts note that this is partially caused by intense withdrawal effects and an increased craving for substances. Even with the best psychotherapies, clients may still struggle physically with their addiction, which increases their likelihood of a relapse.
Casa Santa Isabel believes that this is where ibogaine can help. The natural medicinal approach supports substance detox by significantly reducing cravings and withdrawal effects. Studies suggest that when taken consistently, especially during the first few months of treatment, ibogaine mimics the psychedelic effects in the brain without the addictive qualities found in other substances. Over time, the brain begins to balance itself and no longer needs external factors to produce natural “feel-good” hormones such as dopamine.
Casa Santa Isabel offers ibogaine treatment as a supplemental therapy to its comprehensive recovery plans. Typically, clients at the center can complete their program within a week, though this may be adjusted as needed.
The center explains that before any ibogaine is administered, clients must undergo a thorough medical examination to determine if they are suitable candidates for the medication. Clients with a chronic heart disorder may need their doctor's approval first before treatment.
A spokesperson for the center wrote, "When ibogaine is administered in programs of similar length to conventional detox, and even without long-term case management, ibogaine-assisted detox seems to lead to total abstinence from substances more often than most conventional treatment programs."
