The ophthalmology clinic, directed by one of the country’s leading experts in vision-related disorders, now offers LASIK eye surgery outpatient treatment as a permanent alternative to prescription glasses and contact lenses. The procedure is used to correct myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism.

The updated procedures provide outpatients in South Jordan and Salt Lake County with a state-of-the-art alternative to prescription glasses and contact lenses. Clear Vision Institute, which also maintains offices in Eugene and Cottage Grove, Oregon, offers a fast, painless, and effective treatment whose results have been well-documented: many patients experience a return to 20/20 vision.

The market for LASIK surgery is expected to grow by nearly 6% annually as the incidence of eye disorders rises and awareness of surgical treatment spreads. A number of factors are influencing the rise in demand, including an aging population, increased screen time, and the rise of chronic diseases such as diabetes - which can cause damage to the blood vessels in the eyes, leading to vision loss. Additionally, advances in technology have improved the procedure’s accuracy, making it an increasingly attractive option for those seeking improved vision.

Clear Vision Institute directed by Harvard-trained ophthalmologist Dr. Bala Ambati, conducts a thorough intake process on each prospective patient to ensure that individual’s suitability for the procedure. The clinic's team will analyze the patient's medical history and conduct extensive eye examinations to look for signs of eye infection, inflammation, dry eyes, and other issues that could pose risks for laser vision correction results.

The procedure itself is straightforward. Dr. Ambati will first use a special instrument to create a thin flap on the surface of the cornea. This flap is then lifted, allowing Dr. Ambati to access the inner layers of the cornea. Using a computer-guided laser, the surgeon then reshapes the cornea according to pre-programmed specifications, to correct the eye's focusing power. The flap is then re-positioned and the surgery is finished. The entire process takes about 15 minutes for both eyes.

Clear Vision Institute also offers additional vision correction solutions, such as cornea transplants, cataract extractions, and keratoprosthesis.

One patient recently commented: “Calm, thorough, and professional. I can’t believe how comfortable and confident Dr. Ambati and his team made me for my LASIK. If I had known how quick and painless it would be, I would have done it years ago.”
