Jun 2, 2023
The creators of the Squatty Potty have published an article discussing the benefits of squatting stools to women struggling with their bowel movements owing to pregnancy.
New York, United States - June 2, 2023 /PressCable/ —
The company’s piece aims to inform pregnant women about a simple and inexpensive tool that can help relieve bowel complications caused by pregnancy. According to the company, the article is particularly beneficial to those who want to avoid conditions which can be caused by excessive straining.

The article describes the situation of a woman with irritable bowel syndrome who became pregnant, which made her bowel movements more difficult. After trying softeners with moderate success, she found a more natural source of relief: a squatting stool.
According to Squatty Potty, the story illustrates the situation many pregnant women struggle with. For instance, the Cleveland Clinic estimates that “about 16 to 39%” experience similar symptoms at different points in their pregnancy.
“We’re biologically designed to squat in the toilet; not sit. Unfortunately, the design of the toilet has made us accustomed to the latter position,” Squatty Potty's spokesperson explained. “Squatty Potty stools naturally reposition your body and straighten the colon to reduce strain during bowel movements .”
“Its simplicity and affordability make it ideal for any household, especially one with a pregnant member,” they added.
Squatty Potty carries a broad array of stool options, beginning with the Original 7", which is made of durable plastic and features an anti-slip surface. Stools that go well with certain bathroom designs are also available, such as the acrylic stool with its minimalist design and the teak and bamboo stools, which can complement bathroom decor.

About Squatty Potty
The company began in St. George, Utah, with the Edwards family. After consulting a doctor about her difficulty with her bowel movements, Judy Edwards was advised to prop up her feet to get into a squatting position. This discovery would inspire her son, Bobby, to design a squatting stool for her, and two years later, the family manufactured their first plastic stool.
The product exploded in popularity after being featured in Shark Tank and publications like USA Today, and in 2022, Squatty Potty shipped its eight-millionth toilet stool.
