There are numerous applications where a non-contact infrared pyrometer may have an advantage over contact probes such as thermocouples, for example they are an excellent choice for surface temperature measurement in applications where the measurement of thin film plastics, paper or high temperature glass or metals is almost impossible using traditional methods. Not only that, by measuring remotely, the sensor does not influence the measurement, which is possible when it comes to contact methods such as in thin materials or moving items and remote measuring allows the measurements to be taken from a safe distance, ensuring long sensor life using the infrared temperature pyrometers.

Combined with high quality optics giving small spot sizes, the CSmicro is an extremely versatile group of sensors, and are easily configurable using the optional USB interface and Compact Connect software.
The Optris CT LT on the other hand is an excellent general purpose miniaturised digital pyrometer with programmable electronic box. The IR sensing head is suitable for use at ambient temperatures of up to 180°C without cooling and with a choice of optical resolutions there is certain to be a version within the range to suit your application.
