Vishwanath Danthuluri, MD, FASMBS, DABOM, a General Surgeon with Capital Surgeons Group Southwest Bariatric Surgeons

New York City, New York Dec 31, 2021 (Issuewire.com) - A top professional in the field of general surgery, Dr. Danthuluri is affiliated with Capital Surgeons Group Southwest Bariatric Surgeons, seeing patients at their offices in Austin, Texas. He specializes in bariatric and robotic surgery for gallbladder, hernia, intestinal, breast, and colon conditions.

The doctor performs advanced laparoscopic surgery, GERD treatment/acid reflux surgery including LINX®, hiatal hernia repair, para-esophageal hernia repair, medical weight loss, and bariatric surgery including gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, duodenal switch, Lap-Band® maintenance, and removal, as well as revision surgery.

"I've always been a helping kind of person, even as a child. Growing up, I was always that guy to help friends and family with their fitness and general health concerns. Bariatric surgery combines those innate desires with the most leading-edge modern and technical skills needed to perform surgery. I like telling people I can cure their diabetes and hypertension with surgery, instead of masking their symptoms with life-long medications and their side effects" expressed Dr. Danthuluri.

With a broad educational background, he earned his medical degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine. He completed his residency in general surgery at the Memorial Health University Medical Center and his fellowship in bariatric surgery & advanced minimally invasive and robotic surgery at the Bariatric Medical Institute of Texas McGovern Medical School.

Distinguished as a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (FASBMS), the doctor is board-certified in general surgery and bariatric surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

To boot, he has been recognized as a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine (DABOM), which is a 501 nonprofit, self-appointed physician-evaluation organization that certifies physicians practicing obesity medicine.

Remaining up to date in his field, Dr. Danthuluri is an active member of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, the Texas Medical Association, the Travis County Medical Society, and the Georgia Composite Medical Board.

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland. A general surgeon performs a wide range of abdominal surgeries for many forms of intestinal and abdominal wall neoplasms, gallbladder disease, gastric and pancreatic disease. They follow the patient through critical care and surgical recovery all the way to outpatient care.

On a more personal note, he loves spending his free time with his wife and three children, exploring Austin. He has lived in Alabama most of his life but fell in love with Texas during his fellowship training. When he is not operating, he can be found outdoors walking his dog, hiking, or climbing. He loves watching football and soccer and is excited about the arrival of Austin's new professional soccer team.
