Winter Closures Go into Effect in Bridger-Teton National Forest

Visitors and Locals Reminded of Winter Wildlife Closures

Woodbridge, United States - December 12, 2019 /MarketersMedia/ —

As of December 1st, many areas in Bridger-Teton National Forest are off-limits to any human activity. The five-month closure stretches from south of Gros Ventre Road above Lower Slide Lake, including Fall Creek Road between Red Top Meadows and the base of Pritchard Pass. Josie’s Ridge, including the hillsides around it, KC Trail, Wilson Canyon, the slopes above the Putt-Putt trail, and the Game Creek trail are also off-limits.

Bridger-Teton spokeswoman, Mary Cernicek, said that park visitors often forget that there is no snow removal on forest roadways. “As winter progresses, the mountain roads become drifted with snow and impassable. If not careful, an unsuspecting motorist could get caught on a drifted road or slide off into a ditch, and the vehicle could be stuck there until snowmelt in the spring.”

These annual closures are critical for wildlife. The break lessens the stress of wintering animals like moose, deer, and elk. Moreover, they’re not forced to move to a new location where food is scarcely available. Cernicek also advised park visitors to be more responsible in using the great outdoors. Hikers and bikers should also be aware of trail and area closures and have sufficient emergency supplies when out in the snow. Surviveware, a leading brand for first aid and outdoor essentials, offers a first aid kit ideal for the winter season, the Surviveware Large First Aid Kit.

Surviveware’s Large First Aid Kit is designed to be sturdy, water-resistant, and winter-ready. The kit’s body is made of durable 600D polyester fiber that makes it durable against wear and tear and constant use. It has a MOLLE strap system that enables it to be attached to any suitable surfaces.

Thanks to its shape and structure, hikers won’t have a problem carrying this ergonomically-designed pack. In a fast-paced situation where every minute counts, its sturdy top handle helps in its easy retrieval.

This expanded first aid kit is packed with enough supplies to meet the needs of national park visitors and winter enthusiasts. The Large First Aid Kit, which is available for purchase on Amazon Prime, holds 200 first aid supplies that can be used to aid with minor to major injuries such as cuts, bruises, sprains, and scrapes. The kit contains several emergency and adhesive bandages of varying designs, non-adhesive dressings, wound closure strips, skin cleaning and alcohol wipes, eye pads, hypoallergenic tape, and gauze pads. It also comes with additional tools such as tweezers, splinter probes, a CPR kit, fever strips, hydrogel, and sting relief wipes.

Jonathan, a Surviveware Amazon customer, shared that this pack showcases nothing but quality:

“This is a quality first aid kit!!! I am EMT-B certified, and this is by far the best commercial First Aid kit I have seen in the market. You get a lot for your money, and Survivewear donates part of the proceeds for prosthetics for veterans and kids who need prosthetics. The kit is made of very durable, rugged fabric that will last a long time. The inside is a combination of tough, thick plastic to house all the items along with a polyester and some tough zippering. The kit also comes with a little first aid book that has very helpful first aid information. This is the go-to kit that you should have in your car or in your camping gear. It is packed with first aid essentials, is rather lightweight, and it is easy to store as well. Would definitely recommend for anyone who loves the outdoors or would just like to have a first aid kit around that is well stocked.”
